I’ve Written Thousands of Words about Immigration Reform but the Most Important Ones Have Been for VDARE.COM—Help Keep Us Going

By Joe Guzzardi

As I was polishing off my two columns posted on VDARE.COM this weekend—“California High Schools Need Immigration Reform, Not Exit Exam,” and “There is NO RAISIN SHORTAGE (Just a Shortage of Immigration Enthusiast Honesty)”—it occurred to me that I just might be the most prolific immigration reform writer in America.

For nearly two decades, I have been fighting our good fight as a columnist in local California papers.

Also, for several years, I wrote regular columns pleading for immigration sanity at CalNews.Com. And I have done a stint as a Senior Writing Fellow for Californians for Population Stabilization.

That, if I do say so myself, represents a massive body of columns!

But my most important work by far is the articles I have produced for VDARE.COM.

Since 2001, my uncensored weekly columns about my experiences on the front line of the immigration reform battle (in addition to being a VDARE.COM truth teller, I am also a teacher for the Lodi Unified School District in California’s San Joaquin Valley) have pushed our cause forward faster than any other I have written.

Peter Brimelow, editor and founder of VDARE.COM, has given me what every journalist dreams of—a free hand to tell it like it really is.

VDARE.COM gave me my first opportunity to write about the immigration crisis the way it should be—in a hard-hitting, unrestrained style that gives thirsty readers the true, behind-the-scenes story complete with supporting details often unavailable elsewhere.

Our daily columns are a long cry from the pabulum that passes for immigration coverage in the mainstream media—or as we disparagingly refer to it, the MSM.

I began my career in journalism in 1988 as an Op-ed columnist for California’s Stockton Record, now known simply as The Record. About once every six weeks, I wrote about the immigration abuses I saw from my vantage point as an instructor at the Lodi Adult School.

Although my columns were written in a politically correct style, readers still managed to get the drift of what unfettered immigration was doing to California.

After several years the then-editor, Jim Gold, advised me that in his opinion Record readers had had “enough” and he told me abruptly that my column would be discontinued “effective immediately.”

But I knew based on the outpouring of mail I received that readers wanted MORE facts about immigration not LESS.

The only ones who had had “enough” were the Record’s timid editors.

Then, in 2001, I found VDARE.COM…or more accurately VDARE.COM found me. Peter Brimelow called to ask if I would be interested in writing a regular column for the site.

I could not believe my good fortune. Since its inception in 1999, I had read VDARE.COM for insights and topic ideas to use in my own column. But with Peter’s gracious call, I was about to be freed from my politically correct shackles to give readers what they want and deserve—the real story!

Since my VDARE.COM column began more than four years ago, I regularly receive several dozen weekly e-mails from readers who thank me for “telling it like it is” and for being a “patriotic American.”

As Peter has told you, VDARE.COM needs money to continue its efforts on your behalf to bring an end to illegal immigration and reduce legal immigration to historic levels of 250,000 annually or less.

We don’t need a lot of money but there is a modest monthly payroll that must be met.

I know I speak for all the VDARE.COM columnists when I tell you that putting columns together week after week is real work.

Those of you who are familiar with journalism know how much effort goes into cranking out good, solid copy.

If you are grateful to VDARE.COM for its existence—and we know you are—and would like to see it continued---and we know you do—it would be wonderful and very much appreciated if you could make as large a donation as your budget allows.

Please give right now while it is fresh in your mind.

p.s. We are delighted see donations of any size—$10, 100, $1,000, $10,000. But we do feel especially good about the larger ones!

p.p.s. And don't forget - you can give stock! You could help us more at no cost by avoiding capital gains tax! (Email donate@vdare.com for details)
